Lobsang Samten, aged 53, hails from Khangsar township in Chikdril (Ch: Jiuzhi) County, Golok (Ch: Guoluo) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. He has been a monk at Ngaba Kirti Monastery since childhood and is currently in his Karampa (Geshe) class, serving as the junior chant master at the Prayer College of Ngaba Kirti Monastery. His lifelong commitment to monastic studies has earned him the Karampa (Geshe) title, which recognizes academic excellence in philosophical studies. Notably, Lobsang Samten was previously detained in 2011 along with 300 other monks in Ngaba.
