Tsering Tso’s latest detention on 29 June on charges of “endangering social stability” and her subsequent release on 8 July after ten days in “administrative detention” marks the fourth time in five years she has been targeted for criticising the Chinese government’s discriminatory policies and advocating for equal and fair treatment of Tibetans inside Tibet.
Tsering Tso faced her second instance of arbitrary detention in three years due to her social media expressions, where she criticised Chinese authorities for committing human rights violations against Tibetans in Kyegudo (Ch: Yushu) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, located in the Tibetan province of Kham.
From 26 October to 10 November 2023, human rights defender Ms. Tsering Tso was sentenced to 15 days of “administrative detention” by the Yushu Public Security Bureau (PSB) in the Yushu city detention centre.
