Nyima, from Kardze County, was arrested unexpectedly in January this year on charges of spying.

He was a student at Sichuan’s Gehoe National University, concentrating his studies on Tibetan culture.

On 5 June 2022, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison by Dartsedo (Ch: Kangding) Intermediate People’s Court convicted him for allegedly disseminating state secrets.
