On 11 December 2023, Kunchok Lodoe, a Tibetan activist who received a 13-year prison sentence for protesting against the Chinese government, passed away at the age of 54.

Mr.Lodoe received a 13-year sentence at Drapchi Prison in Lhasa, Tibet's largest detention center. However, due to "tremendous physical torture," he developed severe health issues related to his liver and was released in 1995 for medical treatment.
