In February 2023, Tsultrim from Tsaruma township in Kyungchu (Ch: Qiongxi) County, Ngaba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, was detained for a second time for possessing a photo of the 14th Dalai Lama on his mobile phone. He was held until April and then sentenced to two years in prison by the Intermediate People’s Court of Ngaba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture.

Prior to this, in July 2022, he was summoned and questioned by Chinese authorities for sharing a picture of the Dalai Lama on social media and having it on his phone. He was detained for two months until September.

In 2016, Tsultrim graduated from Northwestern Minzu University and was a self-employed businessman. He is currently serving his sentence in Yaknga prison, with no visitation allowed from family or friends. His exact age is unknown.
