Sangye Tso is a University student from Tridu (Ch: Chenduo) County in Kyegudo (Ch: Yushu) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, in the Tibetan province of Kham. On February 17, 2021, she was arbitrarily detained by public security bureau personnel and escorted to the Yushu City Detention Center. On December 15, 2021, the Yushu City Public Security Bureau called her father telling him to pick up his daughter. When the family arrived in Yushu City, she was alone in a hotel. She has lost weight and was unable to walk because of torture sustained in detention. The family took her to a hospital nearby for treatment.

Sangay Tso, co-founder of a chat group, was released in a severe health condition after being arbitrarily detained for more than 10 months.
