Nyima Dakpa was sentenced to nine Years in prison though he knew he would never actually spend nine Years in prison. During only a few months in detention ; Nyima Dakpa had almost been beaten to death. He would not survive nine more Years. When he was detained ; Nyima Dakpa was a fit and healthy monk. On his deathbed ; Nyima Dakpa was emaciated with a breathing tube attached to his nose ; an have attached to one arm and a heart rate monitor attached to the other. He died in 2003 ; four Years after his arrest.

He was beaten harshly till his body turned numb and a new method of 'Cold Cell' torture was first used on him where he was surrounded by cold metal sheets on either side of the wall to lower the temperature of the cell.

Phuntsok was then sentenced in 1998 to a two-year term in prison ; where the torture he suffered disabled both his legs ; leaving him unable to stand

Tibetan blogger Woeser authorities subjected him to “severe torture” then hospitalized him in December. Officials returned him to his family in a “physically incapacitated and frail” state a few days before January 22 ; 2012 ; when he died at home.

On 11 December 2023, Kunchok Lodoe, a Tibetan activist who received a 13-year prison sentence for protesting against the Chinese government, passed away at the age of 54. His friends and fellow activists stated that he was in generally good health before his passing on December 11th.

When he was returned to his family ; Choedrak had dislocated jawbones and damaged kidneys. He was physically emaciated and vomiting blood because of a brain injury. All the bones in his feet were broken. This suggests that he may have been subjected to the falaka ; or foot whipping ; torture technique. The falaka involves beating the sole’s of the victim’s feet with a heavy cable or whatever else is available. It causes extreme pain up the victim’s body and the feet to swell. The technique was used in the PRC ; the Middle East ; and Romania.[2]

The Zuogang police reportedly demanded that Kaldo sign a statement in support of propitiation practice ; but instead he wrote a phrase supporting Tibetan Independence. Police reportedly beat him severely; he died in custody on April 28

TCHRD learned that Chugdar passed away after being subjected to severe beatings and other forms of torture during his detention as he had no record of medical conditions at the time of his arrest.

Chugdar's family learned that he had passed away while in custody after two days.

In May 2023, he was arbitrarily detained for allegedly disseminating teachings by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to local residents. Gedun Tenzin Dorje was skilled in reading and often provides explanations, including those of His Holiness's texts to local residents.

Although he was detained and subsequently released, he was prohibited from continuing his religious explanations. On 25 May 2023, due to heavy surveillance and restrictions by the Chinese authority, he tragically took his own life at home.

Beaten to death

He was severely beaten while being detained for staging a solo protest at around 1 pm local time on 17 October in Ngaba County town. He is believed to be in critical condition.
