Tsering was initially called to the county office along with his family members and villagers after his video went viral. He was permitted to return home briefly before being summoned again and subsequently detained. Sources indicate he is now being held in Kyungchu County prison.

TCHRD learned that Chugdar passed away after being subjected to severe beatings and other forms of torture during his detention as he had no record of medical conditions at the time of his arrest.

Chugdar's family learned that he had passed away while in custody after two days.

Zangkar Jamyang a Tibetan writer had been taken away and disappeared by China nearly three years ago from Khyungchu County in Ngaba Prefecture, Sichuan Province. He has recently been found serving a four-year jail sentence.

He was beaten harshly till his body turned numb and a new method of 'Cold Cell' torture was first used on him where he was surrounded by cold metal sheets on either side of the wall to lower the temperature of the cell.
